Select you printer and label part, or use Installed part if you have a smart printer.
Select Blank Template and select Create.
Add information to the label.
Only Text, Barcodes and Graphics can be set as a Placeholder. If one of these objects is added to the label, click the Object tab and proceed to the next step.
Brady Workstation version 4.30.0.9 added the capability to create a picklist for barcodes and graphics.
A static field remains consistent across each label.
e.g. A logo that you want to appear on each label when the placement and size of the logo should never change
Pick List allows the user to create specific information that can be selected when the label is printed. The user who prints the label would only be able to select what is defined in the list.
Click the plus sign to add a pick list option.
Type in the text for Text or Barcodes. Continue until all options are added. For Graphics, refer to the Graphics section below.
Click the checkbox to move the options up or down, or click the trash can to delete the items.
The pick list for a graphic is slightly different from a textbox or barcode. When the plus sign is selected, the Graphics selector appears.
Select one of the Brady graphics or choose Browse to upload your own.
Adjust other properties if needed.
Change Default Graphics: Set a default graphic that will appear on the label. If a default is not selected, a box appears on the label.
Graphic Object Properties: This option will center the graphic within the boundaries if it is checked.
Color Settings: Black & White or Color.
Placeholder (variable) fields accept imported or manually-entered data when the template is opened in Print Partner, Scan & Print or Data Automation. Content in placeholder fields can change from label to label. In the example below, the static Serial field should remain the same on every label. The empty box next to the Serial field will contain the serial number, which will change from label to label. These placeholder fields will accept the serial number from imported, sequenced or manually entered data. For more information about these data import methods, see:
Prompt at Print Time determines the view when Print Partner is used. If Prompt at print time is checked, the information is entered on the Print Preview screen.
Note: You can leave your template open in Custom Designer while performing data entry in Print Partner, however you cannot make edits to the template from Custom Designer while it is open in both applications.
Launch Print Partner.
Browse to and select your template using any of the 3 options, click Open.
Note: The default directory for saved template files is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Brady Corp\Brady Workstation.
Enter data into the Placeholder field using your keyboard or one of the data import options under Sequence and Labeling Extras. You can enter data in any field that is outlined in blue.
Picklist
If a picklist was setup, choose the value in the dropdown. The view will be different depending on if Prompt at Print was selected during the template creation.
